It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a side that has achieved everything.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and a priceless quality in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was dismissed Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing competing nations at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
